I say no.. Most of my email is work related or technical.

Nov. 10th, 2009 @ 10:53 pm Girl murdered in Flower Mound
I just read a story about a 16 year old girl murdered on Flower Mound. The first 48 hours are the most critical. I am curious to see if FMPD makes an arrest.

I just got back from the Flower Mound fire department open house.. I ate 2 hotdogs, drank some pepsi, hob knobed with CERT folks.. It was fun! Tons of people, exciting demos of fire apparatus..

I haven't posted lately.. I just have not been in the mood. I try to stay upbeat and move forward every day.

Tomorrow I climb the 300'er at the lake.. Hopefully I will be able to get everything done for the year..

Current Mood: busybusy
Its been a slow day.. I'm putting out fires.. Slowly..

The biggest item is BYE BYE VONAGE! Overpriced rip-off. I am moving over to Callcentric where I can host my own PBX.. I should have done this 1.5 years ago... I would be rolling in cash I saved....

Tonight is the DCARA meeting.. It will be held at the Denton Central Fire station again.

I am mostly wrapped up with my work today.. I am still pounding away on a FreeBSD box that runs FreeNAS. I can't get a mail program to install. Grrrrrr.

Today will be slow. I wanted to climb the grapevine tower but I could not get a crew. I will wash dishes and do laundry instead.

I was up till 0100 this morning again.. I was working on my refurbed backup.unixwolf.net box. It sports Mandriva 2009.0 Power Pack, and the guts of my old workstation with the addition of 2 250gb IDE drives and a 4 port 3ware raid controller. 3Ware and linux always play nice together.

So I got backup DNS going last night.. I hope to get the mail server loaded and accepting mail tonight and tomarrow and maybe figure out an RSync routine as well..

So I just got back from The Colony animal control to go look at a GSD named Hans. So I get there at 1230 and they open the door at 1000. Hans was going to become available today. I get there and he is already gone. A gal named Denise(sp?)from Camp Wolfgang had already picked him up. He was not on any kill / euthanasia list. He could have been there a week with no problem. The adoption fee is $20 at the animal control place. If you go to Camp Wolfgang in Ennis Texas, you HAVE to shell out $300.00 to adopt a shell shocked Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome Shepherd that has been more than likely piled in a small kennel with 3 or more other dogs up to their elbows in fecal matter.

I went to Camp Wolfgang once.. I will never go back. I wish I would have taken pictures. All the dogs down there are damaged goods. Over half of the 160 or so have diarrhea. There are several dogs per kennel. The smell of dog crap is overwhelming. My heart goes out to all the GSD's in that place. I played with 2 of them for a while and determined that they had no use for humans whatsoever. Some of the dogs down there are not adoptable due to behavior issues. They will live out there lives in a kennel.

Camp Wolfgang needs 8 more staffers and 300 more acres. Wally's heart is in the right place. God knows that if I never marry, I would leave all my money to found a place called "The Urish home For Wayward German Shepherds". I love the breed that much. It's just that the final product out there needs improvement.

I just got my 2009 tax appraisal. The greedy bastards at the Denton Central Appraisal District have done it again. They got me last year because I was out of town and couldn't make it. They raised my value 10k this year. They must be high as a kite. Steve Mossman is finished. What a crook. I am filing a protest tomorrow. We are going to go down 20k.. Screw them.

Current Mood: geekygeeky
Once again my friends over at Advanced PC Products have shined. I have a customer that called me up while I was at another site saying their PC would not turn on. I couldn't get away from what I was doing and so I told them to run over at lunch and talk to Ben and see what the deal was.. Turns out a surge had nuked the power supply. Ben had them back in business in under 10min.

I love these folks. They have been in business for 20 some years which is VERY UNUSUAL for somebody in the mom/pop PC build and repair market.

I buy all of my parts from them exclusively.

Good folks.. That's all I can say.
